  • Process Error Proofing including Process Control Plans and Inspection Standards.

  • Tools used include Process FMEA, DOE, Gauge R & R, 8D Problem solving.
  • Formal “Root Cause” corrective action procedure.

Quality – Precision Parts

Tumedei Spa has extensive experience manufacturing high and low volume parts with tight control of critical dimensions and physical properties. The company has proven capability in supplying precision parts within the following specifications:

  • Dimensions to +/-0.05 mm.
  • Hardness on finished components +/-2 points.
  • Compression Set <10% on finished components (also at elevated temperatures).

This is achieved through the following key requirements:

  • Clearly identifying the customer requirements and testing method.
  • Implementing tight process control on material properties.
  • Using small precision moulds.
  • Comprehensive production tooling capability studies.
  • Tight production process controls including Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Critical properties measured on finished parts.
  • Automated inspection capability.
  • Precision Parts .

Quality – Zero Defects

Tumedei steps for zero defect product supply

  • Agree with customer on critical properties and tolerances.
  • Carry out Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Tooling/Process trials test critical properties on samples from four corner cavities and one centre cavity and prepare a capability study for each property.
  • Statistical Process Control (SPC) on each critical property on four corner cavities and one centre cavity.
  • Automated inspection of finished product.
  • Customer reports of actual zero defect supplied by Tumedei.


Tumedei has a well equipped laboratory facility for testing elastomers, TPR and engineering thermoplastic. Testing capabilities include:

Product Validation Non Contact Measuring :

  • The Tesa Visio optical measuring device for rubber parts fitted with a Rhenishaw TTP for plastic / metal parts.
  • Accurate to 3 microns.
  • Measuring process can be programmed for the best repeatability. Can exchange files with Solidworks, allowing us to digitize parts.

In addition the following product specific testing and inspection equipment is used for ensuring the quality of finished parts:

  • Diaphragm life time endurance test with customer housing.
  • Customized test rig for leakage test on diaphragms and / or moulded seals.
  • Diaphragms burst pressure test (fabric reinforced).
  • Anti wicking pressure test on fabric reinforced diaphragms.
  • Basler automated visual inspection systems on site at O-ring off shore production site.
  • Automated diaphragm testing for voids/pinholes on site at off shore production site.
  • Sealing pressure for check Valves using both air and water (Gulf Rubber group).
  • Flow rate testing for flow regulators (Gulf Rubber group).
  • Wear and life testing for drive shaft alignment bushes (Gulf Rubber group).
  • Life testing for drive shaft couplings (Gulf Rubber group).
  • Flexural modulus testing for drive shaft couplings (Gulf Rubber group).
